Tonight I tried something different.

I have made chicken satay before from Food Lovers Palate and tonight I also made their sauce to go with it.

I also made sautéed rutabagas with mint and maple from my new book Molto Batali simple family meals.
I don’t think his recipes are particularly simple but there are certainly different with easy to find ingredients.

Heat 1/4 olive oil in a sauté pan
Add 2-3 lbs of peeled chopped rutabagas. Cook until golden brown turning frequently.
4 cloves of finely sliced garlic,
1 t red pepper flakes
3 T red wine vinegar
3 T maple syrup
Bring to a boil
Cook until liquid is reduced
Season with salt
Add chopped mint and toss.
